Over 200 guests joined the Hon. Carmel Tebbutt, Deputy Premier adn Minister for Health at the launch of the Kids Research Institute and to thank the donors and supporters who have supported research at the Institute.


Friday, 20 November - The Woolcock Institute for Medical Research, Sydney



The Woolcock Institute of Medical Research  held a Morning Tea on Friday 20 November at the Institute to say ‘thank you’ to their researchers that work tirelessly on finding new treatments and medicines each year. Staff signed a “thank you” board to acknowledge the work of their Researchers.  Professor Norbert Berend, Research Director of the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research said
“Australians often find it difficult to acknowledge the outstanding work of health and medical researchers”. “Every day, the general public benefit from the work of researchers, often without even realising it. We wanted to take the time to say, “thank you” to our researchers for their hard work and dedication; And a big thanks to our volunteers, without them a lot of our research could not take place”.



Mater Medical Research Institute, Brisbane  - Friday, 20 November




Mater Medical Research Institute hosted a “sausage sizzle” for all research and research support personnel on the Mater South Brisbane campus to celebrate “Thank You” day.  Assoc Prof Nigel Waterhouse again showed his short order skills and cooked the food for around 50 guests.  A low key event, the lunch time function was a great way to say a small thank you to all of the people who have contributed to the success of research across the Mater in 2009.

BioMelbourne Network & Research Australia, Melbourne - Monday, 16 November

The BioMelbourne Network Briefing with Professor Laurie Zoloth also included a "Thank You" Day celebration.   The briefing was attended by leaders in the health and medical research community.
