Donations to Research Australia are Tax Deductible
On 27th June, 2001, Research Australia was granted Deductible Gift Recipient Status by Federal Treasury. Therefore donations to the value of $2 or more to Research Australia Limited are fully tax deductible.
Legislation has been enacted in Schedule 4 of Taxation Laws Amendment Act (No.5) 2001 which amends the gift provisions of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 to include Research Australia limited as item 3.2.6 of subsection 30-40(2).
It is important to note that Research Australia champions health and medical research and does not raise or grant funds for research. It acts as an umbrella group, driving support direct to various charitable foundations, research institutes, hospitals and universities undertaking health and medical research.
